The Causes of Obesity Are Different For Many Obese People

Even though most obese people share the same "external" traits, most do not share the same reason why they got the way they are. There are numerous causes of obesity. Determining the cause of obesity in each individual case is key to their success in conquering obesity and any underlying psychological problems that person may have if any.

We now know that our genes can be one of the causes of obesity. Unfortunately, some people are naturally predisposed to obesity because they are born with genes that cause them to put on weight more quickly than other people. These people store fat more easily than other people. There is not much that these people can do about their genes, but there are steps that they can take to conquer their obesity problem.

Other people become obese because they quite simply eat too much and do not burn the calories that they eat through physical activity. People can definitely become obese if they live in an unhealthy environment. If you live near and eat at fast food establishments where the food is not nutritious you run a high chance of becoming obese. Eating too many sweets which in general have empty calories will also make you obese. Living in an environment where you do not have the time, opportunity or inclination to exercise regularly should be a major concern. Experts recommend that people exercise at least three times a week for at least thirty minutes or more to keep your metabolism and weight at an optimal level. The combination of poor nutrition and a sedentary lifestyle was definitely the cause of my obesity.

The causes of obesity are sometimes beyond the control of the individual. Unfortunately, Many people have a more difficult time controlling their weight than others. There are also some health conditions which might contribute to obesity such as problems with the thyroid gland. Other people have a difficult time dealing with stress so they use food as a comfort when they feel anxious or down. Each person has to deal with varying factors that cause obesity in their lives. Obesity is a very difficult weight problem to overcome, but there is a lot help "out there" for those who suffer.
